Handmade Concertina Pleated Drum Lampshades

The Concertina Pleated Drum lampshade combines a circular drum form with a repeated accordion-like fold around an open centre. The concertina structure gives the shade a sculptural profile and creates a changing pattern of light and shadow when illuminated.

Each Concertina Pleated Drum lampshade is handmade in our UK workshop using a premium faux silk from Prestigious Textiles. Choose from our standard fabric colours and sizes to create a shade for a table lamp, floor lamp or pendant fitting.

What Is a Concertina Pleated Drum Lampshade?

A Concertina Pleated Drum lampshade uses a series of repeated folds to create a circular, ribbed form. Unlike a conventional drum lampshade with a plain cylindrical surface, the Concertina shade has a more structured profile with visible depth around its open centre.

The folded construction affects both the appearance of the shade and the way light falls across its surface. The raised sections catch more light while the recessed folds create shadow, making the form more prominent when the lamp is switched on.

Choosing a Concertina Pleated Drum Lampshade

To configure your Concertina Pleated Drum lampshade, begin by choosing a colour from our Prestigious Textiles faux silk range. You can then select one of the available sizes to suit your lamp and the scale of the surrounding space.

The design can be used on table lamps and floor lamps where the shade will be viewed at eye level, or as a pendant where the circular form and open centre can be seen from below. Plain fabric colours allow the repeated folds and shadow pattern to remain the main feature.

Concertina Pleated Lampshades and Soft Pleated Shades

The Concertina Pleated Drum is a shaped design with a repeated accordion-like structure. It differs from our Pleated Lampshade, which is a soft shade made by gathering or folding fabric onto a conventional lampshade frame.

The Concertina design is therefore suited to projects looking for a more sculptural folded lampshade, while gathered, knife and box pleats offer a softer textile finish.

For interior design studios, hospitality projects and private commissions, we can develop Concertina Pleated Drum lampshades for non-standard dimensions, alternative materials and wider project requirements.

Our standard Concertina Pleated Drum lampshades are suitable for table lamps, floor lamps and pendant fittings. They are designed for an E27 lampholder, with an adaptor for BC and E14 lampholders included where applicable.
