Harrods Georgian Restaurant Lighting | Bespoke Silk Canopy Shades
In early 2024, Iberian Lighting collaborated with David Collins Studio on the refurbishment of The Georgian Restaurant at Harrods, one of the world’s most prestigious dining destinations. The brief was to create a series of large bespoke pleated silk canopy lampshades that would complement the restaurant’s opulent Art Deco-inspired interiors.
The concept required impressive 2.3m-diameter canopy shades, each crafted in soft ivory silk with a deep box pleat from Pongees Silk. In total, the scheme involved five canopy shades plus a sample, using 218m of silk fabric and 12m of steel. To support their vast size, our engineering team developed custom frameworks, integrating 12 accessible lamps per canopy to provide uniform illumination while accommodating weight and structural requirements.
The finished shades were transported on a custom-built rig and carefully installed onsite, surrounding the restaurant’s grand chandeliers to dramatic effect. Brass and porcelain-topped table lamps completed the scheme, ensuring a seamless balance of scale and detail.
This project demonstrates Iberian Lighting’s ability to deliver bespoke hospitality lighting
at architectural scale, marrying fine craftsmanship with engineering precision. It also strengthens our reputation for creating custom lampshade designs
for the world’s most iconic interiors.
