Handmade Arlington Pleated Lampshades

The Arlington Pleated Lampshade is a handmade soft shade with shaped pleated contours, a scalloped lower edge and decorative lace trim. Its fabric construction gives the shade a softer appearance than a laminated hard shade, while the repeated pleats add texture across the surface.

Each Arlington lampshade is made in our UK workshop using a premium man-made silk from Prestigious Textiles. Choose from our standard fabric colours and sizes, then select the appropriate mounting type for a table lamp or pendant fitting.

What Is an Arlington Pleated Lampshade?

The Arlington is a shaped soft lampshade made by pleating fabric onto a wire frame. The scalloped edge follows the contours of the frame and is finished with lace trim, giving the shade a more decorative character than a standard pleated lampshade.

The pleated surface helps diffuse light through the fabric, while the shape of the lower edge remains visible when the lamp is switched on or viewed in natural light.

Choosing an Arlington Lampshade

To configure your Arlington Pleated Lampshade, begin by selecting a colour from our Prestigious Textiles man-made silk range. You can then choose the size required for your lamp or interior and specify whether the shade will be used on a table lamp or as a pendant.

The Arlington works well in bedrooms, sitting rooms and other interiors where a softer textile finish is appropriate. It can also be used in boutique hotels, restaurants and hospitality projects where pleating, trim and fabric detail form part of the wider decorative scheme.

Soft Pleated Lampshades with Scalloped Edges

Unlike a hard lampshade, where fabric is laminated to a rigid backing, the Arlington relies on fabric tension, pleating and hand assembly around the frame. The pleat depth, fabric weight and scalloped outline all need to work together to produce an even finish.

The lace trim follows the shaped lower edge and provides a defined finish to the pleated fabric. Alternative trims or fabrics may be possible as part of a bespoke order, subject to material suitability.

This can include non-standard sizes, customer’s own material where suitable, alternative trims, revised proportions, frame finishes and production quantities. Fabric suitability will need to be assessed to ensure the pleats and scalloped edge sit correctly on the finished shade.

Arlington Lampshade Sizes, Mountings and Fittings

Our standard Arlington Pleated Lampshades can be configured for table lamp or pendant use and are designed for an E27 lampholder. An adaptor for BC and E14 lampholders is included where applicable.
