Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation | Record Store Scene Lampshades
For the opening record shop scene in Mission Impossible, we handcrafted oversized black pendant lampshades to hang from the shop’s dramatic high ceilings. These bold shades created the perfect atmosphere for Tom Cruise’s character to begin his latest adventure. It’s a powerful example of how bespoke lampshade design can transform a space and set the mood, both on film sets and in real interiors.
The lampshades were designed to be simple yet striking, emphasising scale and contrast against the backdrop of the set. Their clean, minimalist form showcased how thoughtful feature lighting can shape the tone of a room without the need for elaborate ornamentation.
By suspending the large black shades in a grid above the shop floor, the design team achieved a cinematic look that balanced authenticity with drama. This project highlights how custom-made lighting can play a central role in visual storytelling — creating atmosphere, focusing attention, and enhancing the architecture of a space.
The result was a memorable lighting statement that demonstrates the versatility of handcrafted pendant lampshades in both hospitality and entertainment settings.
