Crowne Plaza Mariner Restaurant | Giant Bespoke Lampshades

Iberian Lighting was commissioned to create some of Europe’s largest bespoke lampshades for the Mariner Restaurant at the Crowne Plaza. Inspired by the ships that once sailed the river beside the hotel, the design paid tribute to the golden age of shipbuilding while serving as a dramatic centrepiece for the restaurant.

The oversized shades were engineered to mimic the image of ships sailing past, combining scale with elegance. The construction involved over 1.2 km of steel tubing and an incredible 17 km of 40mm-wide fabric ribbon, carefully assembled to achieve both strength and visual impact. The fixtures were illuminated using LED lighting with DALI dimmable drivers, ensuring flexible control of brightness and atmosphere.

The result is a breathtaking blend of heritage-inspired design and modern engineering, demonstrating Iberian Lighting’s capability to deliver large-scale statement pieces for landmark venues. This project also reinforces our portfolio of hospitality lighting projects

at architectural scale.
