Ashdown Pottery Collaboration | Handmade Lamp Bases & Lampshades

In the heart of the Ashdown Forest, Bill and Anthea of Ashdown Pottery are dedicated to capturing the natural world through their growing collection of handmade pots, bowls, and now ceramic lamp bases. Our collaboration with them celebrates the shared ethos of both businesses: creating handcrafted, high-quality products that draw on history, antiquity, and the beauty of the Sussex landscape.

The Ashdown Forest itself carries deep creative and literary influence, famously inspiring A.A. Milne’s Hundred Acre Wood. Its rolling heathland, ancient woodland, and tranquil atmosphere have long sparked the imagination of writers and artists — and hold personal resonance for Iberian Lighting’s directors, who have lived and worked in the area.

When Bill and Anthea first approached us, they brought a selection of bases with Iberian in mind. While their pieces were striking on their own, we all agreed that simply “fitting” one maker’s work into the other’s would limit the authenticity of the project. Instead, we committed to a more organic process: a genuine design collaboration that blended pottery and lighting, exploring new ideas while preserving what makes each craft unique.

The result is a collection of bespoke lamp bases with handmade lampshades, rooted in Sussex craft traditions yet open to contemporary design influences — a true meeting of artistry, place, and collaboration.
