Handmade Rectangle Lampshades

The rectangle lampshade has straight sides, defined corners and an elongated profile. It is useful where a lamp needs width from the front without the depth of a round shade, making it well suited to console tables, sideboards, bedside lamps and wall-adjacent positions.

Each rectangle lampshade is handmade in our UK workshop and can be ordered from our standard range or developed as a bespoke rectangular lampshade for a specific project. We can make rectangular shades in a wide choice of fabrics, linings, trims and finishes, including customer’s own material where suitable.

What Is a Rectangle Lampshade?

A rectangle lampshade has longer front and back faces with shorter side returns. This gives the shade a more geometric footprint than a round drum lampshade  or an oval lampshade while allowing it to sit neatly in spaces where projection from the wall or furniture depth needs to be controlled.

The shape is often useful where the shade needs to relate to a rectangular lamp base, a narrow table or a more architectural furniture arrangement.

Choosing the Right Rectangle Lampshade

Rectangle lampshades are often specified for bedrooms, hotel rooms, console tables, sideboards and interiors with more linear furniture forms.

The proportions need careful consideration. A wide rectangular shade can balance a broad lamp base, while a narrower version can work well where space is limited. Fabric alignment is also important, especially with stripes, pattern repeats or directional weaves.
