There’s something powerful about knowing where a piece comes from and who made it.
In lighting, it is easy to get caught up in the fast, the factory-made and the budget-driven. But more and more, we are seeing interior designers and hospitality clients come back to handmade.
Not just for the artistry (although that’s a big part of it), but because it’s a more sustainable and intentional way to design.

At Iberian Lighting here in the UK, we’ve been making bespoke lighting for over 60 years. Each shade and frame are welded, powder coated, then carefully covered in fabric, whether hand rolled or pleated and sewn by someone who knows the material, who is trained and practiced in the required techniques and cares about the finish.
These are not mass-produced objects. They are crafted pieces, designed to last.

Does handmade costs more? Yes, but here's what you get in return
-
Lower carbon footprint: No international freight, no wasteful packaging.
-
Longer lifespan: Repairable, updatable, not disposable.
-
Creative freedom: Need to match a brand colour? Want a unique silhouette or lining? No problem.
-
Emotional value: Guest notice when something has been handmade with intention. It adds warmth.

We have worked on everything from tiny boutique hotels to large-scale hospitality projects, and what consistently stands out are the pieces that are felt, not just seen.

Handmade lighting is not just a style choice. It is a statement about care, quality, and what kind of design future we want to support.
If that resonates with the way you work, I would love to chat.
